Designed to be used in the field by infantry or other military personnel, the Marathon General Purpose Mechanical (GPM) is built to the strict military standards and made from high-impact fibreshell, which does not sacrifice quality or durability while keeping weight low. The GPM comes with a Japanese made dual winding mechanical movement. Once fully wound, it will run for approximately 41 hours without the need to be wound again, or can be worn to wind using the automatic self-winding rotor.
Marathon is also best known for using perpetually and autonomously glowing Tritium gas tubes to illuminate the dials. The GPM uses Tritium on each hour marker and hand. Tritium is a trusted source of illumination for military equipment, from watches to aeronautical displays, firearm sights, and binoculars. Tritium tubes glow on their own without the need for charging by an external light source, and will not fade in brightness making it an ideal configuration for nighttime or low light operation.
